There is a 600 year gap between Augustus' reign (27 BC – 19 August AD) and Augustine's mission (595 AD).
For the English, Augustus is the First Adam and Augustine is the Last or Second Adam.
Augustus and Augustine, the first 600 years.
Let's sum it up, with the help of John Henry Newman.
O loving wisdom of our God!
When all was sin and shame,
A second Adam to the fight
And to the rescue came.

In the late 590s, Pope Gregory the Great (590–604) decided to send Augustine (the second Adam) along with Christian books, relics and a group of about 40 missionaries to the Saxon kingdom of Kent to convert the pagans to Christianity.
Jesus Christ is also the last or second Adam
According to Luke the Evangelist, if you trace the genealogy of Christ backwards you will eventually arrive at Adam, the offspring of god, who was created on the sixth day

The Last Adam, also given as the Final Adam or the Ultimate Adam, is a title given to Jesus in the New Testament.[1][2] Similar titles that also refer to Jesus include Second Adam and New Adam. |
St Paul wrote: | "as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive |

"The New Eve" is the devotional title for Mary mother of Jesus. Eve was also created on the sixth day"
First Adam, later leads us to Jesus
First or New Eve, later leads us to Mary.
According to Pandorus, Adam and Eve predate Jesus and Mary by about five thousand five hundred years

Put simply, Augustus and Christ are close in dates, around 5500 years after Adam. The most appropriate time for Christ to be born was in the very middle of the 6th milennium because this period correlates with the 6th day of Creation, when Adam and Eve were created by God. So Jesus Christ, the Incarnated God, became the Second Adam around the year 5500 (after the world was created).
Interestingly, as soon as the year 6000 (after the world was created) approaches, the Roman Emipre adopts Christianity as the official state religion.
It looks like this.
Creation
Day 6 (Adam and Eve)
Day 7 (peace)
5500 years after creation (Augustus and Christ)
6000 years after creation (Roman Empire adopts Christianity as official state religion)
We are approaching 1000 years of peace on earth.
A Christian Peace on Earth will replace the Augustan Pax Romana.

I'd like to join in, Wiley, but I'm groping in the dark. I was given an ASBO and ordered not to go within a hundred yards of any cinema.

The Six Ages of the World (Latin: sex aetates mundi), also rarely Seven Ages of the World (Latin: septem aetates mundi), is a Christian historical periodization first written about by Augustine of Hippo circa AD 400.[1] |
Ortho has it that each age lasts 1000 years
The First Age "is from the beginning of the human race, that is, from Adam, who was the first man that was made, down to Noah, who constructed the ark at the time of the flood", i.e. the Antediluvian period.
The Second Age "extends from that period on to Abraham, who was called the father indeed of all nations".
The Third Age "extends from Abraham on to David the king".
The Fourth Age is "from David on to that captivity whereby the people of God passed over into Babylonia".
The Fifth Age is "from that transmigration down to the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ"
The Sixth Age: "With His [Jesus Christ's] coming the sixth age has entered on its process." |
From Adam to Christ
The world ages also reflect the seven ages of man. Infancy, Childhood, Adolescence, Young Adulthood, Maturity, Old Age, Decrepit Old Age,
Its all sixes and sevens (confusion) but it is clearly all sixes and sevens
Days of the week
Ages of Man
Ages of the world
Currency
Counting Sheep?
Saxon Kingdoms.
A lot of our understanding of "the dark ages" is based on Christian notions of time and space. Most people were not interested in complicated precise mathematical calculations, much in favour today. Folks (historians, monks,) wanted a simpler practical understanding.
