Found a possible explanation for ocean floor spreading and mountain building from a Tasmanian!

This man believes that within the Earth there are liquid convection cells surrounded by solid matter. He calls them Liquid in Solid Convection cells (LISCs). Because these cells are caused by heat convecting away from the Earth they form in a totally random way. The total volume of the Earth is given by the mass of the core, the solid mantle and these ever-changing LISCs. Because of these cells sometimes the Earth is getting larger, causing ocean floor spreading. Sometimes it's getting smaller, causing the wrinkles known as mountains.

This would explain how your split level oceans grow, and also Pole shifting.

Maybe, but unless you can think of geomorphological features that SLOT does not produce, I'll stick with Occam. Sea floor spreading has turned out to be a chimera but it is interesting that this revisionist clearly rejects continental drift/plate tectonics which is bold of him. And stupid because his new theory won't get a look in. If it did provide a mechanism to get the land on the move (which the puddings don't have at the moment), as opposed to just wrinkling what is already there, he would be lionised.

I've never been convinced that SLOT on its own can account for fossils up Mt Everest. Or indeed, the fact that this mountain is 29,000 feet high.
What if these LISCs cause wrinkles which sometimes join up and form the new split-level oceans?

Yes, I agree this is literally a tall order. (Though how high are the fossils?) The general argument -- which must include the Mariana Trench as well, remember -- is that during the relevant billion years (or whatever) everywhere on earth is sooner or later going to be near the the equator and/or near the poles and this in itself causes 29,000 feet of change as the earth decreases/increases its diameter (in the usual, accepted manner).

Presumably these changes are recorded in the geomorphology.
