TB is going to be present in any population where drinking water is contaminated. It has virtually disappeared in the West precisely because modern plumbing is so effective. It remains an ongoing threat in developing countries. Part of the reason I was pondering this question is because I am acquainted with someone in the Philippines who has TB.

A "high rate" of TB among Indians is relative to a Western population and may represent the background rate. However; I suspect it too is inflated, precisely by the same thing that inflates the rate in the Philippines: Sewage disposal systems that are inadequate to the waste generated by the cities in these developing countries (in Manila, raw sewage is often dumped straight into the rivers---out of which I have seen locals fishing and witnessed children bathing).

Indoor toilets contribute to this problem. Without them, for example, high-rise condos would be impossible. Those same condos add to the population density, which is the source of the overwhelming sewage.

The first comment points out that Forrest Maready apparently believes in mythical “viruses”. Still, his research is largely independent of that error.

It's difficult marrying up the chronology but I tend to the view that PCB's, carelessly but profusely scattered around (some more than other) environments, are to blame for many things.

Can someone explain to me why we are being repeatedly bashed over the head by the MSM because something called hantavirus has broken out on a cruise ship?

I'm as paranoid as the next man but I'd quite like to know what I'm supposed to be being paranoid about. I've got a longish list of terrifying things, and they all scare the bejesus out of me by proxy because they never seem to affect me personally, but I have to know where to put hantavirus on it.

The infamous Dr Fauci, the bloke in charge of the medical advice being given to the US government about what to do during the COVID pandemic, is in deep do-do.

When he was operating, the government was either First Trump or Only Biden and it was relatively plain sailing. Fauci would canvas the broad swathe of orthodox thinking when it came to pandemics generally and the Covid one in particular and pass it on to the government. The government would act on his recommendations -- they 'listened to the science' as the saying of the time put it.

However, Covid was -- or appeared to be -- a new kind of pandemic. There were sharp differences of opinion among the medical experts about how it was to be combated. There were also policy decisions to be made by the government as to whether the medical advice should be overridden because of other, wider, political considerations.

Then came Trump II...

Various parts of the government and influential parts of the legislature had come to the conclusion that Fauci had been wrong. Nothing very surprising about that, he probably had. But with the equally sceptical and always vengeful President Trump II calling the shots and egging them on, Dr Fauci had to sit up and take notice.

What is surprising is that the government (in the person of the Attorney-General) and the legislature (in the person of Senator Rand Paul) are anxious to bundle the now 85-year-old Fauci off to gaol. The reasons are not always clear but the desired end-result is.

This might seem a bit harsh on the old chap, who doubtless was doing his feeble best, but that's the price of power. It's when they start banging up the thousands and thousands of people who agreed with Fauci every step of the way that we'll all have to sit up and take notice.
