Gentlemen;

I am now prepared to advance the thesis that the so-called "little Ice Age" was nothing more nor less than The Ice Age: That is, the recorded end of the Earth's last great Ice Age.

I already believe this (in so far as belief is equated with assesing the preponderance of evidence or -- more accurately -- the trend line of emerging evidence).

According to some of the experts it's getting warmer, but you must have a more interesting trendline than that.

Well that's data point 1, if you wish. Orthodox data tells us that from about 1350 onward, the Earth has been on a warming trajectory from a very deep cold snap.

Of course, I'm contending it wasn't a cold snap at all but that the trend line ought to be extended backward. We eliminate the so-called "medieval warm period." It never happened.

I would like you to go to the URL below and click the link on the Map marked "Maps".

Roman Roads

What you see there is a map of the roads of the "ancient" Roman Empire.

Does anyone else see something very odd in the arrangement of these roads?

Surprisingly few of them lead to Rome?

A valid (and likely important) observation. But not the one I'm looking for.

Here is a modern map of the US highway system for comparison. Spot the key difference.

This is some information unrelated to the question I;ve posed but I wish to include it here for later reference.

Recent Radiation Burt Recorded in Tree Rings

Should we be worried about Earth's magnetic poles reversing?

"The most dramatic changes that occur when the [magnetic] poles reverse is a very large decrease of the total field intensity," said Jean-Pierre Valet, who conducts research on geomagnetic reversals at the Institute of Earth Physics of Paris.

Note: Venus has almost no magnetic field.

Many of the Roman roads follow the coastline.
