This HS2 business is getting more interesting by the day. The current situation could hardly be worse: Old Oak Common to Birmingham for a hundred billion. "Who wants to go to Old Oak Common?" "Who wants to go to Brum twenty minutes ahead of time?" That was never the problem, it was London to the north that was the problem HS2 was meant to solve.

The real revelation was Ben Chu at the Newsnight wall showing how much laying a mile of track costs in Britain as compared with everywhere else. It wasn't even close. We must be using solid gold rails. Though it transpired it was all down to Nimbyism, but not necessarily human Nimbyism

Just because he makes you vomit is no reason to join in the Russell Brand hue-and-cry. It will turn out to be the old, old story. Vaguely charismatic showbiz figure gets women to do what they otherwise probably wouldn't do, they regret doing it and are blaming him. The prospect of a bit of cash isn't a disincentive either.

When are people going to realise sex is gross by its nature. That's why I won't have it in the house. Not for some time.

When are bounders going to realise that their behaviour will always create a public hue and cry as these days proper Gentlemen are no longer able to protect the fairer sex by giving these cads a public whipping just in case things were not consensual.

These days we are expected to passively look on whilst Brand makes money by boasting about fucking so and so's granddaughter, and then worry if the presumption of innocence is not being applied when other women come forward to complain about non consensual sex.

Brand, rather than complaining about his lot, should feel very happy to live in an enlightened age where we have treatments for Sexually transmitted diseases' as in olden times Nature would have long ago taken its rightful revenge, and so these old allegations would be irrelevant.

Seriously, what does he expect. Folks to feel sorry for him?

I hate to say it but I agree with Suella Braverman

As one of the moving lights behind the 1951 Refugees Convention, it's up to us to call a new conference to hammer out a set of rules that fit the world of 2023. Not just refugees, but asylum seekers and economic migrants. You only had to watch Channel 4's coverage of Braverman's speech to show why. Who did they choose to interview in order to show Suella in a poor light? A Nigerian lesbian given refugee status because she feared for her life in Nigeria.

* I challenge Channel 4 News to seek out all the people who have been crossing either the Mediterranean or the English Channel and find a lesbian, never mind a Nigerian lesbian, never mind a Nigerian lesbian in fear of her life if she stays in Nigeria.
* And yet... we should grant refugee status to anybody who is in fear of their life in their country of origin.
* And yet... and yet... that doesn't mean the United Kingdom should give such a person refugee status. If they are already in a safe country, there they should stay. And the new Convention will get them sent back there.

All that remains is to sift out refugees from economic migrants. That's simple enough. Stick all new arrivals in one giant holding pen. Genuine refugees won't mind -- they seek only safety. Economic migrants will mind so much they won't even come. Soon enough there'll only be genuine refugees in it and they can be welcomed into the bosom of Mother Britain.

GB News Shock Horror

Let's get clear what actually happened:
1. A blonde, reasonably attractive woman journalist says something mildly challenging about men on a lunchtime talkshow
2. On an evening talkshow a reasonably unattractive man took issue and said consequently he wouldn't want to sleep with her and nor would any other man.

It was standard knockabout minority channel talkshow stuff, witnessed by absolutely miniscule audiences of the kind who respectively
1. quite enjoy women saying disobliging things about men and
2. quite enjoy men saying disobliging things about women.
Nobody could possibly be offended by anything said unless they were determined to be. Since, in UK2023, everyone is determined to be offended by anything they've been told is offensive, the nation is currently in meltdown.

I find that offensive.
