Don't let Hats see this. She will choke on her toast.

It's a boulder on which two heads are carved and known as a two thousand year old pagan Celtic tricephalos, it was dug up in 1967 when Mr J L Mahon was constructing a rock garden close to his house, situated close to the River Clyde.

This tricephalos is now in Glasgow Art Gallery and Museum
.
Wile is being a bit slow this morning. So why is it a tricephalos if I can only see two heads (?) I eventually found the third head here.

Hang on, he don't look stylistically like the other 2!!

Thanks, Wiles. It's never explained, or considered necessary to explain, how carved features remain so well defined after, allegedly, two thousand years of exposure to the elements, unlike the third face (in 'low relief' as they put it) which has been noticeably eroded.

There seems surprisingly little academic interest even though, or maybe because, it's such an unusual find.
