How the National Socialists got started, as the original European Green Party, could be a whole chapter of AUHOTSWW.

Environmentalist ideology was not an accidental, optional-extra to National Socialism. Green ideas, vegetarianism, organic agriculture, forest preservation and homeopathic healthcare were at the core of Nazi thinking.

Pointing out the similarities between National Socialists and Greens might be career-limiting for academics with careers to worry about. AEL members have no such limitations.

Some people confuse this with Left-Wing -v- Right-Wing, as though the National Socialists were on one end or another of the scale. But it's the wrong yardstick. Totalitarian -v- Libertarian might be the more appropriate measure?

There was never anything "right wing" about National Socialists. neither is there anything right wing or about their modern-day "stormfront" equivalents. This was and always has been a leftist smear---as well as a case of sociological projection necessary for leftists to purge themselves of association with what was and is just another leftist heresy.

There is a nice piece by Aussie Clive James here........about Climate catastrophe.

"Mass Death dies hard"

https://www.thegwpf.org/content/uploads/2017/07/Clive-James.pdf

Actually, a more illustrative starting point for the theme of the permanently imminent climatic apocalypse might be taken as 3 August 1971, when the Sydney Morning Herald announced that the Great Barrier Reef would be dead in six months. After six months the reef had not died, but it has been going to die almost as soon as that ever since; making it a strangely durable emblem for all those who have wedded themselves to the notion of climate catastrophe.

In his acceptance speech at the 2008 Democratic convention, Obama said – and I truly wish that this were an inaccurate paraphrase – that people should vote for him if they wanted to stop the ocean rising. He got elected, and it didn’t rise.

Why was Venice built in a marsh?

As a trading port?

It probably seemed a good idea at the time (putting buildings on soft ground etc)

You will have to give us, say, three similar examples if you want this weird suggestion to fly.

Hot News from the Antarctic Underground.

Coincidentally, the part of the Antarctic that is melting the most (because of Global Warming and the CAGW consensus) has active volcanoes underneath it.

Point of information, Mr Chairman?
Three examples of buildings on soft ground?
Or three examples of trading ports build in marshes?

Hot News from Underwater Japan.
or
From the Department of Yet More Things To Worry Our Children About
or
We're All Doomed (Captain Mainwaring)

Japanese Supervolcano Has 2000 feet of Dome Lift

A giant lava bubble is expanding at Kikai volcano, a supervolcano just 31 miles south of Japan’s main island of Kyushu. More than 31 cubic kilometers (7.4 cubic miles) of lava have shoved the seabed up around 2,000 feet, creating a giant dome with a diameter of about six miles. The rising dome, with its peak is now less than 100 feet (30 m) below the ocean’s surface, is estimated to contain a much more immense volume of lava than the Yellowstone or Long Valley calderas.

“The most serious problem that we are worrying about is not an eruption of this lava dome, but the occurrence of the next supereruption,” said Yoshiyuki Tatsumi a volcanologist at Kobe University in Japan and lead author of the new study published in Nature Scientific Reports.

Dr. Tatsumi thinks the chances of a supereruption in the within the next 100 years are only about 1 percent. But when that eruption comes, it could eject nearly 10 cubic miles of magma (not ash, but magma!), enough to cover almost all of Japan in ash nearly eight inches thick, he found.

The question, of course, is will this erupt just a little, as such calderas sometimes do (pffizzz), or blow the whole lot (kabooooooom).

Better news from on-land Japan

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2018/02/11/asia-pacific/science-health-asia-pacific/sinking-pacific-nation-getting-bigger-showing-islands-geologically-dynamic-study/

The Pacific nation of Tuvalu — long seen as a prime candidate to disappear as climate change forces up sea levels — is actually growing in size.

It found eight of the atolls and almost three-quarters of the islands grew during the study period, lifting Tuvalu’s total land area by 2.9 percent, even though sea levels in the country rose at twice the global average.

Sadly though, this would be terrible news for some of my Baizuo* friends, as their whole life has depended on a never-ending stream of Gloom & Doom News and Computer-based Disaster Modelling. They would be shocked by the heretical idea that climate change might be doing some good. I'm not sure I have the heart to tell them, as it would break their hearts.

* Baizuo (Chinese: 白左, literally "White left(ies)") is a derogatory Chinese epithet

The word baizuo is, according to political scientist Zhang Chenchen, a Chinese word that ridicules Western "liberal elites". He further defined the word "baizuo" with the definition "People who only care about topics such as immigration, minorities, LGBT and the environment" and “have no sense of real problems in the real world”; they are hypocritical humanitarians who advocate for peace and equality only to “satisfy their own feeling of moral superiority”; they are “obsessed with political correctness” to the extent that they “tolerate backwards Islamic values for the sake of multiculturalism”; they believe in the welfare state that “benefits only the idle and the free riders”; they are the “ignorant and arrogant westerners” who “pity the rest of the world and think they are saviours”. The term has also been used to refer to perceived double standards of the Western media, such as the alleged bias on reporting about Islamist attacks in Xinjiang.

If SLOT theory is correct all the lands in or bordering the Pacific Ocean should be expanding in size. This has no bearing on Global Warming.

Is there a SLOT theory for Oxford University?

Oxford City Council is to become the first UK local authority to establish a citizen’s assembly with the aim of helping address the issue of climate change, by considering the measures that should be taken in Oxford.

This follows the unanimous declaration by Oxford City Council members of a ‘climate emergency’, in a decision that also set in motion plans to create a citizen’s assembly in Oxford to consider new carbon targets and additional measures to reduce emissions.

It might be the aliens wot dunnit.

Oxford professor argues invisible aliens are interbreeding with humans

Dr Young-hae Chi, Professor at Oxford’s Oriental Institute, believes in a strong correlation between climate change and alien abductions.

In 2012, Dr Chi gave a lecture at the the Ammach Conference, titled ‘Alien Abduction and the Environmental Crisis’ in which he outlined his theory concerning the presence of aliens on earth.

Dr Chi began his lecture with the statement that “perhaps human civilisation is coming to an end”.

In his fifty-five minute presentation he cited Dr David Jacobs, an ‘abduction researcher’ in the US, who argued that aliens’ primary purpose is to colonise the earth, by interbreeding with humans to produce a new hybrid species. Second generation ‘hybrids’ are, according to Jacobs, walking unobserved among us.

Dr Chi argued that “it is not only scientists and theologians, but also non-human species who appear to be greatly concerned about the survivability of the human species”.

He pointed out that the timing of aliens’ appearance coincides with the earth facing major problems, climate change and nuclear weapons in particular.

Both stories from https://www.oxfordstudent.com/

Clearly Oxford is a world-leading fertile breeding ground for all kinds of unusual ideas. Next time I have tea with the Vice-Chancellor, should I suggest it's time they open a Department of Applied Epistemology?

We're all doomed (again) (in two months)!

A secret report, suppressed by US defence chiefs and obtained by The Observer, warns that major European cities will be sunk beneath rising seas as Britain is plunged into a 'Siberian' climate by 2020. Nuclear conflict, mega-droughts, famine and widespread rioting will erupt across the world.

By 2020 'catastrophic' shortages of water and energy supply will become increasingly harder to overcome, plunging the planet into war.

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2004/feb/22/usnews.theobserver

It's in the Guardian, so it must be true.

The shortage of water here at Chateau Boreades has got so bad that the pond is overflowing and our hens are trying to learn how to be ducks. We've moved their houses to higher ground.

M'Lady is having her own personal catastrophic riot. Our local Waitrose has run out of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

The good news: we're thinking of bottling the excess water and selling it on ebay as "Genuine Peckham Spring Water".
